A member-elected Board of Directors – composed entirely of active members – leads our organization. We’ve intentionally kept the membership group size limited to emphasize the quality of our initiatives, to enable strong member relationships, and to ensure that each member has a significant role in our success. And, a single employee keeps our administrative cost-to-grant funding ratio at a world-class level.
Members are required to pay dues to cover non-Foundation expenses (meals at our meetings, criminal background checks, and annual costs) and to care about the future of Colorado’s children.
What does it mean to be a DCF Member?
Denver Children’s Foundation members work together through our personal and professional networks to raise money and to create opportunities for the charities we assist. We typically meet monthly (third Wednesday) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at various restaurants around town. Annual dues are used to pay for these events/meals. Active Members who raise a minimum of $5,000 per year are entitled to vote on agenda items and for officers, event chairs, and other key positions.
Members are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of the meetings and provide “manpower” at our major fundraising events. Annually, each Member will evaluate and perform due diligence for up to three charity grant applications, helping a Member-elected Grant Review Committee determine the best investments for DCF’s donor and sponsor contributions.
A high-character individual who successfully integrates accountable effort with strong fundraising can find success as a DCF Member. Experienced DCF Members offer support, guidance, and tools to enable new Member success.

The member selection process typically occurs each fall, including attendance at a mandatory New Member Information Session, completion of an application, and interview(s) by Active DCF Members.
